Charles Starring (1903-1976) was a professor of history at Western Michigan University, 1928-1969. This collection includes Starring's personal research and collected publications about Michigan history. Research papers include material about Caroline Bartlett Crane, the Kalamazoo Civic Improvement League, Julia A. Moore; Caroline Hubbard Kleinstuck. Personal papers and records, ca. 1927-1970, include World War II letters by graduates of the V-12 program at Western Michigan University, household accounts, photographs and slides. Minute book of the Brady Grange, Vicksburg, Michigan, 1873-1881. Guidebook about the Better Homes Campaign, 1925, which includes information about Everyman's House in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Moore was a Michigan author and poet of six books. She was called the "Sweet Singer of Michigan." Born on Dec. 1, 1847 in Plainfield (Mich.), Moore lived there until the age of 10 when her parents moved to Algonac (Mich.). She spent her adult life in nearby Edgerton (Mich.).
